This was a typical house in Israel, built somewhere in the 80’s. As in many old country houses, there was no connection between this house and the large garden which surrounds it. In redesigning the house and the garden we tried to create this connection, and make the garden a vital part of the house.
In order to achieve this we had to lower the floor of the living room, and connect the different parts of the garden with steps and paths.
Large windows were opened, carefully placed to make the most of the view, with wide window sills emphasizing the connection between inside an outside. A warm gray slate floor was chosen for both house and garden, further enhancing the feeling of unison between interior design and garden.
