The house in Israel:
Several years ago, I designed a house in a village north of Tel Aviv. Looking at the design, one can easily recognize the owners’ passion for vintage furniture and lamps, their love of photography and for creating a very special, warm ambience.

Here is some more information about this house:
Designing the shop in Munich:
Since then, the family has moved to Munich, Germany, and Maoz, my client, has decided to open a small shop, which will bring together several of his loves: old and new vinyl records, vintage furniture and accessories, excellent coffee, photography, and most importantly – people. He had a clear vision of what he wanted the shop to look like, and asked me to help him bring his ideas to life.
I was more than happy to do this. I have studied in Munich, I know this beautiful city well and love it.
Maoz mailed me plans and photos, and we engaged in a long and intensive dialogue through e-mail and telephone. Together we developed the layout of the shop, designed and chose the furniture and light fixtures, discussed colors and wallpaper – all within the special concept of the shop and with a limited budget. Of course, Maoz took of the final steps of choosing and placing all pictures and accessories.

The shop is called Maoz Vinyl & Kaffee, and it is truly unique. It is basically a place to buy and exchange music records of all sorts.
One can listen to music while drinking the outstanding coffee – one of the best in Munich – and enjoying the 70’s- style.
On the walls you can find a wonderful collection of photographs, same taken by Maoz himself, which are also for sale. Once in a while the shop hosts live performances of local musicians.
Here is a link to the shop’s website;
The shop has three spaces, both of them long and narrow.
The lower space contains the entrance to the shop, the sales counter, the coffee bar….

……and several seats around small coffee tables.

Maoz has professional high-quality coffee-making equipment….

This space occasionally hosts musical performances by local artists:

The second space has two rooms which contain most of the records:

No wonder this shop design reminds you of a cozy living room.
We intended that the visitors enjoy everything the shop has to offer, in a warm home-like atmosphere.

Since we were working with a limited budget, we used Ikea storage units. They are functional, they look good and their measurements are a perfect fit for the records..

Here are some recommendations for the shop from the official website of the city of Munich:

At Maoz Vinyl & Kaffee you will find a great selection of new and used records with focus on rock and jazz, but also a selection of soundtracks, electronic and more exotic genres is available. The prices are fair and the cool thing about this shop is that Maoz also makes one of the best coffee is Munich. I often go there to enjoy a cup of coffee while listening to records or looking through the new arrivals. For those in Munich who care about great records, a nice atmosphere and of course good coffee, then Maoz Vinyl & Kaffee is the place to go. A highly recommended experience!
