The design of this house is based on the fact that we built an interior gallery in an existing space.
We chose to clearly show the skeleton – in this case, the iron columns and iron beams that carry the gallery addition – instead of hiding them inside walls or plaster ceilings, as is customary.
The iron pillars remained exposed, and the floor of the gallery was placed entirely above the beams, so that the beams could be seen from the living room (of course, we made sure to have proper acoustic insulation, so that noises from the upper floor would not shake the lower floor).
